Art Basel Hong Kong 2018: La Prairie x Julian Charriere – Light upon an Imaginary Space
Spring has become an important art season for Hong Kong because there were many art related happenings in March. The most significant and representative one should be the Ary Basel Hong Kong hoisted at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre. This year, to my surprise, there was an art piece exhibited in the Art Basel in the name of a luxury beauty brand – La Prairie. To my understanding, this is the first beauty brand art piece that can enter into the Art Basel. Wow!
It’s all started when La Prairie prepared for their launch of the new White Carviar Creme Extraordinaire, it acts as a patron of Julian Charriere’s latest film Towards No Earthly Pole, which is the results of three years work in some of the world’s harshest climes, and it will be shown in 2019 at the MASI LAC Lugano. Charriere used the frozen landscapes as a stage to explore the changing perception of these fascinating places.
Based on his work, Charriere created an edit inspired by the power of light – Light upon an Imaginary Space, exclusively for La Prairie. It was displayed in the La Prairie’s Pavilion in the Collectors Lounge at Art Basel in Hong Kong.
As the Swiss Artist Charriere said, “Like La Prairie, my work constantly tries to push the boundaries of what is thought to be possible while being unafraid to forge new ways to implement new ideas.” This is exactly what I see the magic these two parties come together and sharing the same strength and value.
The new La Prairie White Caviar Creme Extraordinaire
Like an art, the white and silver bottle of the White Caviar Creme Extraordinaire reflects the light beaming from my window. The scientists at La Prairie screened 50,000 ingredients to find the single most powerful illuminating active, Lumidose, to develop this cream. While I have been trying this cream for nearly a month now, I can start to see my skin became clearer and more even in just a few days. And now my skin looks firm and illuminated.
Tips: The texture of the White Caviar Creme Extraordinaire is very light and easy to absorb. So, remember to use your favourite serum before the cream to maximise the result. Also, I love to use this cream together with the White Caviar Illuminating Eye Cream. You want to have your whole face totally brightened up and illuminated, right?
